A MESSAGE FROM Jamie
I am so excited to run the NYC Marathon on November 6th in support of the New York Junior League, an organization I have volunteered with for the past few years!
The New York Junior League is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
We have more than 2,800 volunteers - of all races, religions, and ethnicities - who donate more than 260,000 hours of service in the NYC community every year through our many partners, such as the Bowery Mission, Covenant House, God's Love We Deliver, Women's Prison Association, New Jewish home - just to name a few! Personally, I volunteer with and serve as the Vice Chair of the New View Committee, partnering with Good Shepherd Services. We provide weekly workshops and mentoring to help at-risk youth from 18 to 21 years of age transition from foster care to independent living. Our mentoring group helps expose teenagers in foster care to a world they may never have thought possible through practical skills workshops. Some of this year's most popular sessions included: Goal Setting, Credit 101, Stress Management, Interview Skills, Etiquette, and a Self-Defense class! It has been incredible to see our residents grow through this program over the past few years.
Our group of dedicated volunteers from Team NYJL has a collective fundraising goal of $60,000, and every dollar raised will support the organization’s mission of improving the lives of women and children in our community. I'm so proud to be running alongside such a great group of women for this cause!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support, and see you on November 6th! Go team NYJL!
Update: Thank you to everyone who has donated! We've surpassed our goal of $3,500! Let's see if we can hit $4,500 before race day! I am so appreciative of you all!
