A MESSAGE FROM I run so Nylon doesn’t have to!
At Friends For Life, every animal matters. Founded in 2002, Friends For Life introduced the no-kill shelter model to Houston – saving animals regardless of their breed, age or condition. Houston-grown, we’re here to help our neighbors care for the pets they love. We’re not finished until every animal has a safe home. Until then, we’ll be innovating, improving and tracking results to find the most effective ways to save lives.
Patrick and I adopted Nylon in September of 2017 when she was almost 8 years old. She was a long-term FFL stay, and was in their care for nine months! As a senior dog, she probably wouldn’t have made the cut at a traditional shelter; but FFL loved her hard until we came along. Five years later, she’s been with us through the highest highs and the lowest lows, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have her in our lives.
And if that’s not enough to celebrate, she’s going to be a big sister in February 2023! Yep, that’s right: mom is running a 5k at eight months pregnant because FFL is just that awesome. Nylon *absolutely hates* to run (or uh, exercise at all), so someone’s gotta do it!
