A MESSAGE FROM The Hopeful Romantic Run
Hi, I'm Jonah Feingold, a filmmaker in Brooklyn.
Quick fun fact about me... I would skip gym class in high school... usually to spend that time with a camera in my hands, and eventually because I got a free pass for filming football team highlights. Sports were... never my thing.
Why a camera? Well, because I was told very early on that other things - reading, writing, math - would be difficult for me given my severe dyslexia.
Years later, I saw this as a strength and have made a career directing and writing three romantic comedy features films about love.
I was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of four. I participated in special reading groups, received tutoring, and tried all the tricks in the book. Yes, a helmet on my head and sent down a bowling alley, all the way to Harry Potter books on tape. I was often told it was something that would hold me back. Now, as a successful writer and filmmaker, I realize it is my greatest strength. Much like training to run this marathon as a newer runner, I want to inspire people to push the limits of what they think they can do.
I'd love your support on this, first, marathon journey.
xo,
Jonah
