A MESSAGE FROM Frans’ 2033 NYC Marathon Fundraiser
Dear Friend, Family, Colleague, Stranger,
I kindly invite you to donate to my fundraiser on behalf of Tina’s Wish and in return you’ll get to see and hear how I suffer through yet another New York marathon.
As you likely know, this will be my second attempt at cracking the 4 hour mark. Unfortunately, my attempt last year had me finish in a time of 4 hours, 23 minutes, and 18 seconds - far too slow if you ask me. Hence, I decided this year to avenge that race and put myself on the start line again. And what better way to do that than with the great organization Tina’s Wish!
Tina’s Wish is a charity aimed at funding Ovarian Cancer Research. They partner with a range of leading private and public institutions, amongst which the hospital of my Alma Mater, the University of Pennsylvania, and carry out great work to increase our ability to detect ovarian cancer. It was recently reported that 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime - a staggering amount. Unfortunately, ovarian cancer is usually detected far too late - at stage 3 or 4 - when chances of survival are lowest and chance of successful treatment rare. Tina’s Wish aims to increase that survival rate by helping women discover this cancer earlier. It is a great organization delivering vital work and I am proud to be running and fundraising on their behalf.
Last year, I was honored to raise over $4,000 for this cause - thanks to many kind individuals such as yourself. In order to repay that - and demonstrate my commitment to this cause - I will donate $200 of my own money for this cause (on top of the $100 I already committed to pay). And - to motivate you and challenge myself - I pledge to donate another $200 should I fail to beat the 4 hour mark. With this, I hope that you will be so kind to donate to my cause, too. I will be immensely grateful and honored.
With that - I want to thank you and wish you the very best.
Sincerely yours,
Frans
