A MESSAGE FROM Jimmy
Hello everyone!
I appreciate your support as I prepare for my first marathon. Since leaving the Marine Corps in 2019, I have completed some sort of physical fitness challenge each year as I have found the discipline required and excitement of the challenge extremely helpful with transitioning out of the military. So this is the year I have finally decided to run the NYC marathon. Having lived in and around the metropolitan area it has always been such an exciting day to experience and I am thrilled to have a more active role in producing the excitement of race day. Making it even better is the fact that it is also in support of helping other veterans with their transitions out of the military and set them up for successful post service life.
The Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation was established to help ease the transition from military to civilian work for the Special Operations Community. We accomplish this by providing scholarships to current or former Special Operations Professionals, from all branches of the military, for traditional education or vocational/professional training. The foundation has awarded scholarships to 117 deserving individuals, totaling over $875,000 to date. Donating to the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation is a great way to give back to the Special Operations Community, who give so much of themselves for our nation and for all of us. Thank you for considering a donation to our scholarship fund!
