On November 3, I’ll be running the New York City Marathon on behalf of Community Hope. Community Hope is a New Jersey non-profit organization providing support to homeless veterans and individuals struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues. The organization offers various types of housing and other social services that are designed to foster independence and resiliency. It serves nearly 1,500 individuals and families per year. Community Hope steps in where the government has not, throwing those in need a lifeline to stability.
If you have the resources and feel inspired to donate to Community Hope, I would be immensely grateful for your support.
I also will be running this marathon for
my dog Mashy, who unexpectedly passed away in August 2024 (although the last
thing she would ever want anyone doing is running 26.2 miles!). Mashy, much
like the individuals that Community Hope serves, faced significant challenges.
When Atlee found Mashy, she had cycled through six previous owners and was on
the kill list. The shelter said she was a sweet but extremely reactive dog who
could never live with other pets in the house…
Thank you for your time and support. I’ll send out a bib number as soon as I get it. Encouragement and heckling are welcome!
Love,
