Hello to my friends, family, and any lovely supportive folks who have stumbled across this page!
This year I will be running the NYC Marathon for THE INNOCENCE PROJECT-a non-profit legal organization committed to exonerating wrongly convicted individuals through DNA testing AND working to reform the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice.
Specifically the organization works to:
EXONERATE: Exonerate those who have been wrongly convicted
IMPROVE: Improve case law through targeted legal work (i.e. consulting with and supporting defense attorneys, representing individual clients etc.)
REFORM: Work to pass laws & implement polices to prevent wrongful conviction
SUPPORT: Support Exonerees as they rebuild their lives post-release
To date, 375 people have been exonerated with DNA testing and the Innocence Project has provided direct representation and/or critical assistance in 231 cases.
