A MESSAGE FROM Ellen's Angels
This fight is personal to me, this is year 10 with out my mother. We never knew ANYTHING about ovarian cancer before my moms diagnosis. I never knew that I was at risk.
My mom was a tough cookie, she never complained when she was in pain and it almost took an act of Congress for her to go in for something that she was mostly fine with. The signs and symptoms can be:
Bowel changes
We did not know that her changes in bowel habits were not just diverticulitis, but a symptom of O.C.
Feeling full/sudden weight loss
We did not know that her feeling full real fast and extra nausea was not a sign of the onset of indigestion, but O.C. When really all along my mom had a tumor that was leaching not only her nutrients from her body but causing her to feel tired faster.
Tiredness/extreme fatigue
My mom just switched from day shift to night shift so she thought her body was adjusting to the shift change
Cycle changes/ Bloating
My mom was 56 when she passed away. When she started experiencing cycle changes she contributed to "the change" after all she was getting up there and it's just a normal thing women go through. There was also a good bit of bloating - that was brushed off stating that the indigestion or cycle changes were the culprit.
These are just a few symptoms but as you can see all the different "things" can be explained off as just life, but everything when you look at it all together raises an alarm - and I wish we knew.
