A MESSAGE FROM Andrea Running for Culinary Care
Hi my name is Andrea Natella, I am raising money for a nonprofit called Culinary Care through the 2025 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Culinary Care provides free meals to cancer patients as they undergo chemotherapy treatment. They partner with a variety of local restaurants to give patients a wide selection of options. This service is very near to my heart. My mother and I received many meals from Culinary Care during her chemo sessions in Chicago and I cannot overstate how important it was for her health outcomes, both from an emotional, physical, and financial standpoint! Early on in her cancer journey, she saw food as medicine and one of the best tools she had, outside the standard of care, to improve her body's response to the cancer and the chemo. From this perspective, Culinary Care gave my mom agency to decide what medicine she would take on these critical days, rather than going without eating at all. It gave her comfort in knowing that she wasn't alone in this experience and that a vital service like this could only come from a place of deep empathy and understanding. All this to say that I am grateful to Culinary Care for feeding us when we needed it most and for continuing to feed and support cancer patients as they undergo the most challenging race of all, the race towards remission.
