A MESSAGE FROM Sydney's Half Marathon Fundraising Page
This year I am running the Hartford Half Marathon in memory of my Grampy, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.
To say that my Grampy was an accomplished marathoner would be an understatement. Running in the Boston and NYC marathon over 10 times, until his body wouldn't allow him to do so.
Even when his memory began to fade, his passion for running didn't. He always clung to our mutual interest of running. Although my middle school running career was short lived, lasting only one season, Grampy would continue to ask me about my running up until he passed in 2021.
Even when he couldn't remember my name, he remembered that I ran. I will be running the Half Marathon for my Grampy, for all those who are battling, and the families affected by the Alzheimer’s Disease.
