On July 4, 2025, twenty seven girls at Camp Mystic lost their lives in the flood. Each was unique, yet all were remembered for their kindness, generosity, and the way they lifted others with love and joy. I am training for and running for the Madison 2026 half marathon to honor and remember them, especially Janie Hunt, a beloved member of my extended family. I have completed and enjoyed numerous half marathons, but I am taking on the challenge of running 13.1 miles with the goal of a personal best to give more of myself in honoring and celebrating the Heaven’s 27.

Note: Although my original plan has been to run the 2026 Dallas Marathon, I am moving and the logistics have interfered with my ability to be there in person. In the weeks between the Madison Half Marathon and the Dalls Marathon, I am planning to run the remaining 13.1 miles on top of the half marathon length to fulfill my commitment to 26.2 miles.
