A MESSAGE FROM David's Fundraising Page
Please consider supporting my fundraising efforts for the 2025 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. This year I have chosen to run for Strides for Peace, which is an important non-profit working to end gun violence, save lives, and build a stronger, safer Chicago through advocacy and storytelling. Last year in Chicago there were nearly 3000 shooting incidents that results in the death of over 500 individuals.
To find out more about Strides for Peace, please visit: https://www.stridesforpeace.org/
Also, if you are interested in reading more about the systemic problem of gun violence in Chicago, please considering reading the important work of Alex Kotlowitz's An American Summer: Love & Death in Chicago or Forest Stuart's Ballad of the Bullet.
I recently completed the Detroit Marathon in a little over 4 hours. For the 2025 Chicago Marathon, my goal will be to finish the 26.2 miles in under 3 hours and 45 minutes. It is a lofty goal, but I will be again training through the Chicago Area Runner's Association, which did an excellent job in preparing me for Detroit. We all have a stake in ending gun violence in our city, thank you for considering a donation.
