I am a Houston runner, and this will be my 7th Chevron Houston Marathon. My goal is to run 10 to earn legacy status. I usually just run for myself--chasing my own personal records, and I don't mind paying the entry fee because it goes towards this premier event that we are fortunate to have in our city. This year, my good friend and running partner talked me into run for a reason. It's tough to choose just one charity. There are so many wonderful ones--American Heart Association, CanCare, ALS, Houston Food Bank, and Team Catapult! This year I will be running for Friends For Life--an organization that rescues, fosters, and adopts animals in Houston. When you spend a lot of time out running, you see a lot of abandoned and stray animals. Sometimes, they follow you home. This is one of many groups in the area doing good work to rescue them. I appreciate your support for me and/or for their work. See you on the trails!
