I know, I know, I said I would never run a marathon and you are probably wondering why one would run a marathon for the fun of it at 40. I wonder that myself sometimes during the longer training sessions! When I didn't get a lottery slot for the marathon, I was ready to skip it and move on. But when the opportunity to run with Guest House came just in the nick of time, I knew it was meant to be.
Many of you know that I'm not one who likes asking for money, but as the training continues, with each run, I think of the many families and loved ones we would be helping. The proceeds raised here will help provide temporary lodging for patients, families, veterans - anyone receiving life-saving medical treatment in Chicago. I know many

friends and families who have come to Chicago for treatments, but when I visit them, I'm able to go home right after. I can only imagine what it's like for people who don't live in the city - the daily back and forth from hotel rooms or sleeping on the couches in hospital rooms. Don't get me started on trying to navigate through Chicago traffic!
Guest House provides comfortable, affordable fully-furnished apartments for patients and families to help relieve some of the stress they might have from traveling to another city for treatment.
