A MESSAGE FROM Colleen's 2023 Chicago Marathon "Hope For The Day" Fundraising Page
Hi everyone! I’m running the 2023 Chicago Marathon for a charity called “Hope for the Day,” a non-profit movement empowering the conversation on proactive suicide prevention and mental health education. This issue is very close to me for several reasons, the first and most important being the mental health issues that I and my family members, particularly my amazing teenage daughter Evy, struggle with. Also, 2023 feels like the perfect year to run this marathon for Hope for the Day because I’m starting a new chapter in my life by returning to school to earn my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health to become a therapist. This means that I’ll be able to practice clinical mental health by the end of 2026. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate this new journey by training for a race; I believe that movement is medicine, and I also believe that, much like food, shelter, and love, mental health is a basic need. While awareness is rising, there is still much stigma around the issue, and it will now be part of my life’s work to bring attention to the issue and help others in their struggle.
Please consider donating to support mental health. Truly, no donation amount is too small. Thank you so much, as anyone receiving this has been part of my journey.
