A MESSAGE FROM Lauren's Fundraising Page
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with Systematic Lupus Erythematosus (or Lupus) when I was 15 years old and since then I've taken
Lupus by the horns and battled it head on. Most importantly, I've been lucky enough to say that I have been in "remission" since 2015. That
does not mean I don't experience any symptoms, it means that they are not
severe enough to require constant medication intervention.
If you want to read a little more about my history, here's a blog post I wrote, sharing a more detailed story of my diagnosis
Fun fact, I've been running since I was 13 years old and I've also tried to connect my running to something else that was important to me. This year, I will be teaming up with the Lupus Research Alliance team, to run the New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 7th.
My goal is to raise $3000 for the Lupus Research Alliance organization. This organization works worldwide to enhance lupus research, develop diagnostics and improve treatments. If you do have lupus, you are aware that it can takes months, to years, to be formally diagnosed and there are very few treatments. Lupus is incurable but it's not unstoppable. Please consider a donate (via my link) to the Lupus Research Alliance organization.
