A MESSAGE FROM Nathan
Hey there! I'm Nate, a runner, environmental advocate, and volunteer community organizer living in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Running has been critical for my well-being, community efforts, and (environ)mental health. But this year I've been challenged by injury and stress. The ability to run and move is a gift, never guaranteed. So I don't fully know if I'll be able to toe the line in Chicago this October.
But I do know the pursuit is worth it. Because this fall I'm running to support Racing for Sustainability, a new organization started by my friend Tina Muir.
Racing for Sustainability helps a fun community experience—racing—move in the direction of long-term health for people and planet. And health for the long run, for people and the planet we share, is important to so many of us in the running community.
There are many critical human needs to support with direct funding in these times. But if you have extra, and you value eco-friendly sport, your support of even a few dollars would propel this important new org toward positive planetary impact. It would nurture this creative solution forward. And it would enable me to join the RFS team on the streets of Chicago to further the mission.
Environmental health and sustainability is truly a team sport. Here's one of many ways you can be part of a big team in pursuit of important goals. Thanks for considering :)
More about RFS: Racing for Sustainability envisions a world where sustainability is as integral to a race as the start and finish lines. From local 5Ks to major marathons, the running industry generates a significant environmental footprint. We're working to change that. We are dedicated to helping races reduce their environmental impact and promoting eco-friendly practices in the running community.
