A MESSAGE FROM Abigail Sheehan's Fundraising Page
Thank you for supporting me in the 2023 NYC marathon.
On November 5, 2023, I will run the TCS New York City Marathon!!! I am so excited for this
adventure. Running a marathon has always been a dream of mine. I am running to raise funds to
help children and adults with disabilities, life-changing injuries, and chronic illnesses at
Allied Services. This non-profit health system touches the lives of almost 5,000 people in
Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania each week. I am proud to say that I have had the
opportunity to work with Allied Services during my clinical rotation at the University of
Scranton. I have seen firsthand how this non-profit provides skilled nursing home care,
vocational services, physical rehabilitation, behavioral health services, and many more life-
changing services to help individuals and families live each day to the fullest.
I have been a part of the University of Scranton’s track and field team for the past 4 years. I am
beginning my next chapter in life working in the Urgent Care Center at Memorial Sloan
Kettering. But my best friend/ teammate/ and favorite running partner Kate Welby and I decided
to challenge ourselves one last time by entering the NYC marathon. By running with Team
Allied Services, we will be able to cross off a goal we have set for ourselves while also being
able to help those in our community.
I hope you can help me support Allied Services. Insurance unfortunately does not cover all
expenses for many patients. Your donation will go to buying equipment such as the Indego
Exoskeleton, a device that allows patients with spinal cord injuries to begin walking again. A
donation of any size will have a lasting and positive impact on children and adults with
disabilities in the Pennsylvania area. You can learn more about Team Allied Services at
alliedservices.org/teamallied.
Please consider supporting the work of Allied Services: making miracles in rehab, helping
people regain health and independence after injury, improving quality of life for people living
with Parkinson’s or recovering from a stroke, and empowering children to overcome a learning
disability, and much more.
Thank you in advance for your support for children
and adults with disabilities!
For every $35 donation, you are eligible to receive an official, moisture-wicking team shirt! Woohoo!
PS: for those of you not aware my dad, James Sheehan, is also running the marathon. He is fully confident he can beat me. If you donate, I will be sure to send you a selfie of me crossing the finish line before him!
