A MESSAGE FROM Bradley Puffenbarger
I’ve committed to raising at least $3,000 for Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS) to help close the access to justice gap for low-income New Yorkers! My goal is to raise $115 for each mile I run. Every dollar I raise will advance VOLS’s mission and donations are tax deductible.
As a pro bono attorney volunteer for VOLS, I've seen first-hand the difference that VOLS's work can make in an individual's life. In 2019, with guidance from VOLS attorneys, our team secured unemployment benefits that had previously been denied to our client. The result meant that our client could make necessary monthly payments for her and her family, while searching for a new job.
In the past year alone, VOLS free legal civil services benefited nearly 6,800 vulnerable New Yorkers. This means helping small businesses create jobs and anchor neighborhood economies; assisting immigrant young people who need relief so that they can have safety and pursue higher education and employment; helping older adults plan for end-of-life care and incapacity; ensuring access to essential benefits; and providing family law support for incarcerated mothers.
I'm very excited about the opportunity to run with VOLS--an organization that makes a tangible difference in New Yorkers' lives. Please help me support VOLS by making a donation through my page—I can't do this without you!
