I'm thrilled to share that this November, I'll be running in the NYC Marathon with Team Answer The Call!
For those who know me, this might seem a bit unexpected, however when I started running about a year ago, I immediately noticed the change in both my physical and mental health and fell in love with it. At the beginning, I found it difficult to complete a mile without walking but I stuck with it, set small, achievable running goals for myself, and found such a sense of pride and accomplishment with each goal met. Although I still have a hard time calling myself a “runner”, I will definitely be playing the role of one in November!
Beyond the personal journey, I'm also committed to a larger cause. I am working towards my fundraising goal of $3,500 for the New York Police & Fire Widows' and Children Benefit Fund. The organization provides financial assistance and a network of support to the families of NYC police officers, firefighters, port authority police officers, and EMS personnel killed in the line of duty. These brave men and women make the ultimate sacrifice to protect our city and Answer The Call’s goal is to raise enough funds to assist these families for the rest of their lives.
Feeling safe and secure in my surroundings, especially during my runs, is something I deeply value. I'm thankful to the men and women who devote their lives to protecting our community. Your support, whether through donations to aid the families of fallen first responders or by cheering me on in my marathon, means the world to me.
Thank you for being a part of this experience!
