July 2025 updates
Just checking in with a quick update on my marathon training-July has been brutal! Between the heat, humidity, and early morning alarms, this month has seriously tested my commitment. But here's the good news: I’m still getting the miles in, one soggy step at a time. The long runs are getting longer (and stickier), and I’m slowly building endurance and mental toughness which is more than half the battle. What’s really kept me going, though, is the incredible group I’ve been running with on the weekends. These folks show up rain or shine (or 90% humidity), and their support, stories, and jokes make even the longest miles more bearable. Thanks again for cheering me on. Cooler temps can’t come soon enough, but for now it’s water, electrolytes, and a whole lot of team spirit carrying me through. Onward to August!

June 2025 updates
Marathon training officially kicked off on June 9th! I’ve made my return to Yankee Woods with CARA to spend the next 18 weekends alongside the Yankee Runners. Even after more than a decade away, they welcomed me back like no time had passed. Some days, it feels like I never stopped running. Other days, I feel like a potato in sneakers. But we’re moving forward, one awkward stride at a time. The Chicago Marathon is in October, and while this summer heat already has me questioning all my life choices, my heart’s still in it. I appreciate all the encouragement, playlist recs, and post-run snack ideas. Keep 'em coming, I need all the help I can get. And if you happen to see me out there looking like I’m chasing an ice cream truck… just mind your business.

May 2025 updates
I’m officially five weeks out from the start of the Summer Marathon Training Program with CARA (Chicago Area Runners Association)! Right now, I’m focused on building my mileage base and gradually dialing in my pace. Overall, the miles are feeling good. Most of my runs have been on the treadmill in the evenings, and I’m so grateful to everyone who’s sent me streaming recommendations for TV shows, podcasts, and music- keep them coming! If you’ve got any new favorites, feel free to text or email me. Thank you all again for your support and encouragement while I train. Your excitement is contagious, and I’m looking forward to a strong, healthy summer of running!

A MESSAGE FROM Danielle's Fundraising Page
In our community, there is a remarkable group of adults with intellectual disabilities striving for independence at CTF Illinois. Your donation to Community Services Foundation is crucial—it is an investment in their future and a commitment to equality. Without your support, these individuals face significant challenges in accessing opportunities that others may take for granted.

Having not run the Chicago Marathon in over 15 years, my return to training is motivated by a mission to support CSF. Each contribution, no matter the size, directly impacts their ability to live with dignity and independence.

Thank you for making a difference and helping to build a world where everyone can achieve their fullest potential.

April 2025 Updates-

Feeling grateful this month as I hit two big milestones!

🎉 10-Year Work Anniversary at CTF Illinois
It’s wild to think it’s been a full decade. I’ve grown so much- personally and professionally- and I’m incredibly thankful for the people, challenges, and opportunities that have shaped the journey so far. Cheers to the next chapter and continuing to learn, grow, and contribute.

🏃‍♂️ Marathon Training Update
The last month, I've focused on increasing my running volume steadily. It’s been equal parts humbling and motivating. One bonus to treadmill training is that there is no shortage of shows to stream while I ramp up my weekly mileage.  One mile, one day at a time.  Group training won't officially start until June, but until then I am working on staying consistent, conditioned and healthy.

Thanks to everyone cheering me on in both areas of life. Your support means everything. Let’s keep going! 💪
