A MESSAGE FROM Xiuhmitl’s LVEJO Charity Challenge
I’m running this marathon for more than miles, I’m running for community, memory, and future.
I’m proud to be supporting LVEJO (Little Village Environmental Justice Organization), an organization that has long stood at the front lines of environmental justice, health, and dignity for Mexican and immigrant families in Chicago. Their work isn’t abstract, it’s about clean air, safe neighborhoods, youth leadership, and the right for our communities to thrive where we live.
But this run is also deeply personal.
I’m running to help reclaim and honor Toltec wisdom, Danza traditions, and ancestral ways of moving through the world, traditions that taught balance, discipline, service, and collective responsibility long before they were pushed aside or misunderstood. These practices aren’t about the past, they are living tools for healing, grounding, and empowerment today.
For many Mexican immigrant families, including people I love, strength has always come from community: from ceremony, from movement, from rhythm, from showing up for one another even when resources are limited.
LVEJO embodies that same spirit, turning struggle into organized action and hope into real change.
Every mile I run is a reminder that our bodies carry history, and that when we move together with purpose, we can transform pressure into power.
If you’re able to donate, know that your support is not just helping me cross a finish line, it’s fueling:
• Environmental justice in Little Village
• Youth and community leadership
• Cultural pride and ancestral continuity
• Health, dignity, and collective empowerment
Thank you for believing in this work, in this community, and in the idea that running toward something together can change lives.
With gratitude and fire,
Xiuhmitl 🏹🔥
