A MESSAGE FROM Stacey
September is both Blood Cancer Awareness Month AND Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Personally, I feel incredibly lucky to have just celebrated my 40th birthday after having been diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 12. While survivorship certainly presents its own lifelong challenges, so many do not get to tell their success stories so many years later and celebrate so many birthdays.
Over the past 6 months, we've all experienced being separated from our family and friends. This is something cancer patients have to go through regularly, even in a non-pandemic world, because of the risks to their health with every interaction. Today, those risks are exponentially multiplied, and services, treatments, and research have been altered or even put on pause.
I've always run in honor and memory of those who can't, but this time it's taken on a different meaning as patients continue struggling through this time when those services are needed more than ever. That's why I've decided to take on the TNT Resilience Challenge to complete 50 miles throughout the month of September. I'm hoping to get 40 people to donate $40 in honor of my recent birthday, but of course any contribution is much appreciated!
I invite you to be #TNTRESILIENT in the face of cancer by making a donation or by joining me in this challenge!
