For nearly 40 years Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS) has helped low-income New Yorkers access justice for their civil legal challenges. VOLS provides free, civil legal services to older adults, veterans, immigrant youth, children and their families, mothers in prison or jail, adults entitled to benefits, and small business owners in underserved neighborhoods. Their work helps small businesses create jobs and anchor neighborhoods; assists immigrant young people access safety and pursue education and employment; helps older adults plan for end-of-life care and incapacity; ensures access to essential benefits; and provides family law support for incarcerated mothers. I am a proud member of VOLS and look forward to running the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon with the VOLS Marathon Team on November 5, 2023!
