When my mom was undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, one of her nurses introduced her to Culinary Care, a Chicago-based nonprofit that provides free, made-to-order restaurant lunches to outpatient cancer centers to help make those long appointment days a little more bearable.
My mom has always been the one to nourish others (literally - name one Lisa Marth party where you left feeling hungry). This October, I'm running the Chicago Marathon with Team Culinary Care so this organization can continue to nourish cancer patients and their loved ones, just as they did for mine.
It’s a privilege to have access to so many things and people that feed my soul and help me feel like I can grow. It’s my intention in these next 18 weeks (and beyond) to think about how I can give that necessary substance right back to the people who need it most.
Please consider making a contribution to support my fundraising efforts. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference.
