A MESSAGE FROM Dennis is Racing 4 Veronika's Place
Your to support of the St. Monica team participating in the Los Angeles Marathon the weekend of March 15-16 is greatly appreciated.
For the past 10 years, I have been participating in the Charity Half Marathon in support of Veronika's Place, located in Dandora, Kenya. It is truly an honor to raise funds to provide basic food necessary to support the drugs provided by the US government through the PEPFAR program authorized by President George W. Bush in the early 2,000s.
500+ individuals with HIV+/AIDS at our sister parish Holy Cross - Africa. Located in Dandora on the outskirts of the capital city of Nairobi, Kenya.
Dandora is populated by some of the poorest residents of Kenya. It is overpopulated, and has a huge landfill servicing the capital city and beyond. People have little say in government decisions, so they are taken advantage of. Daily, most people in Dandora live on what would be the equivalent of one meal for us - and very basic filling food.
You can see children picking through the trash in the landfill to find something a value.
Folks are that poor!
I find myself rambling overexplaining what is obvious. It has been a very difficult few months for many of us in the Los Angeles area, and I hope this request finds you doing well.
Please consider continuing support of this great cause via Race 4 Veronika's Place (R4VP).
God bless, Peace!
Dennis
