A MESSAGE FROM Dan's Fundraising Page
Hi everyone,
I'm so glad to be supporting the Asian American Journalists Association this year in running the TCS New York City Marathon. As head of audience strategy at ProPublica, I know how much AAJA has benefited members of my own organization and team.
All fundraising efforts go toward supporting AAJA, founded in 1981, including programs, scholarships, trainings, events and other resources for its members. It focuses on developing AAPI journalists for leadership roles in newsrooms and ensuring coverage of AAPI issues and people are equitable and accurate. For many, AAJA helps young professionals just graduating a roadmap for getting a foothold in the industry.
A bit of background: I've been a journalist professionally since 2009, and a runner long before that. After competing in college cross country and track, I completed my first marathon last year in San Francisco, running just under 3 hours, 27 minutes. I live and train in Denver, Colorado, so the altitude and hills, I hope, will mean fast times in New York.
