A MESSAGE FROM Zach...Running a Marathon?!?
TL;DR: I'm running the NYC Marathon this year to help raise money for a non-profit that is near and dear to our hearts - please consider helping them with a contribution!
The long version:
In recent decades these animals have been outsizedly negatively impacted worldwide and also here in our own New York waters by significant human activity, e.g., climate change, fishery activity and destruction of habitat, to the point that many species are listed as Endangered - some critically.
Recognizing how important it is that sea turtles and seals continue to make New York waters their home, the non-profit 501(c)(3) New York Marine Rescue Center ("NYMRC") has been rescuing, rehabilitating, releasing and studying sea turtles and seals since 1996 - over 3,900 animals since 1996. In fact, NYMRC is the only organization in State of New York authorized to rescue, rehabilitate and research sick and stranded sea turtles and seals that has an actual hospital, from where the full-time team of seven (7) NYMRC operate in Riverhead, New York.
My wife, Molly Jobe, has been involved with and a champion of NYMRC and the NYMRC mission since 2016. Molly is now a member of the NYMRC board and volunteers a tremendous amount of her time to NYMRC, including fundraising for NYMRC as NYMRC relies exclusively on government grants and donations (both corporate and personal) to continue to excel at their mission of preserving and protecting the marine environment.
Just as sea turtles and seals aren't often the first things that come to mind when thinking of New York, those who know me neither does running a marathon when thinking of me. The NYMRC mission is that important though, to both Molly and me, that I'll be out on the streets for 26.2 New York City miles on November 6th and I appreciate your financial support of NYMRC - however small or large!
The "I shouldn't have to say but I'll say anyway": 100% of contributions go directly to NYMRC!
