A MESSAGE FROM Hailey's Fundraising Page
On October 30th, 2022 my world turned completely upside down. I found out my Dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung & Brain Cancer at only 60 years old...
When I was just a senior in high school, my Dad told me I should run my first marathon as "something fun to do." We still laugh at this because I have no idea how he convinced me that running 26 miles in one day AND training for months would be fun!?! But it worked! After my first race, I got hooked and two years later ran both Boston & Chicago - two of the World's Marathon Majors. My dad was with me every step of the way from creating my detailed training plans to mapping out where friends & family would be on the course, he guided me through anything & everything marathon related & I truly could not be more grateful.
Because my Dad has always been by my side through my marathon journey, I have set the goal of running all 6 Marathon Majors with my Dad still here... With two down and four to go, I have set my sights on the next leg, and will be running both the Berlin (Sept 24th) & NYC (Nov 5) Marathons this fall. In honor of his diagnosis, I will be running the NYC Marathon to raise money on behalf of the organization B*CURED whose mission is to beat brain cancer. B*CURED is an all volunteer organization, so every dollar I raise will go to fund their research grants.
Please consider donating to help fund brain cancer research and reach my goal of raising $5,000! Any and everything counts! The link to my site is in my bio.
