26 miles across the Grand Canyon — in one day — for my daughter, Cameron
On October 6, 2025, I will hike 26 grueling miles — rim to rim — across the Grand Canyon in memory of my daughter Cameron, who passed away from brain cancer on June 6, just months before her 7th birthday and what should’ve been the start of first grade.
Cameron was my sparkle.
My biggest hero.
My brave little ladybug.
She fought brain cancer for more than five years. She endured nine brain surgeries, countless treatments, and more setbacks than any child should ever face. Through it all, she danced. She giggled. She loved deeply and lived fully.
This hike is for her.
It’s part of the 10th and final Crossing the Canyon with 3000 Miles to a Cure, raising urgently needed funds for brain cancer research — so other families might have the options we didn’t.
But this isn’t just about Cameron.
In the two months since she died, three more children we know have also passed from pediatric brain cancer:
💙 Max — diagnosed at 10 months, he spent his entire life in treatment.
💜 Kasey — known for her joy, her pep talks, her love for Christmas.
📚 Reed — relapsed three times, became a big brother during treatment, and spent his final month in hospice.
Four children. Gone.
Three in just four days.
This is not rare.
This is a crisis.
We need better treatment options.
We need real hope.
We need change — not in 10 years, but now.
So, I return to this trail — one I hiked in 2022 when Cameron was in remission, and we were full of hope.
Now I walk it again — with grief in one hand, and purpose in the other.
Because every step I take is for Cameron.
Every dollar raised is for the kids still fighting.
Every mile is for the families who deserve a better future.
Please join me.
In memory of Cameron.
In service of something greater.
