A MESSAGE FROM Jose
On January 19th, I'll be participating in the 16th annual Tampa Bay Frogman Swim and will swim in honor of SO2 Nicholas Spehar, who was Killed in Action in Afghanistan on 06 Aug 2011. Nicholas and I were in BUD/S training together and we were paired up as swim buddies through various training evolutions.
The Tampa Bay Frogman Swim supports the Navy SEAL Foundation. The 3.5 mile cold water swim across Tampa Bay is a small challenge compared to what our naval special operators endure in their sacrifice for our country.
The Tampa Bay Frogman Swim was borne out of the need to help one severely injured Navy SEAL. The event has now evolved to support all wounded and fallen Naval Special Warfare personnel and their families through the work of the Navy SEAL Foundation, consistently rated a top, four star charity by Charity Navigator.
The goal of the Tampa Bay Frogman Swim is to build national awareness of the Naval Special Warfare community and support the Foundation whose mission is to provide immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare community and their families. Please support our event and the Foundation and help us "never leave a man behind."
I'll be swimming as part of Team X, a group of 10 SOF personnel that includes SEALs, Navy EOD, Green Berets, along with Air Force SOF and Marine Corps MARSOC operators. Our team has over 180 years of combined SOF experience and all have served with SEAL elements on deployments. We look forward to commemorating our Fallen Teammates with this swim. Thank you in advance for your donation.
