A MESSAGE FROM You Never Quit
I could tell you about how I've never done a 5K before, but this isn't about me.
It's about quiet professionals who work harder than anybody to make sure we sleep safely.
It's about their families, who endure separation and silence and fear.
It's about letting them ALL know we have their back, no matter what happens.
I've set up this Virtual Racing Team in memory of Michael Monsoor, whose story taught me to work harder, be braver, and to love boldly. A few years ago, I sat at his graveside, wishing I could make some grand gesture to show him how he'd changed my life. But the silent whisper was simple: "Just take care of my brothers."
Roger that.
Join me here in Oregon or cyberspace, running a 5K on September 29th, far from the cheering crowds. No limelight. Just one foot in front of the other in quiet persistence.
UPDATE: I had a great run on 9/29, slow but steady and my dad, husband and son met me at my finish line. Thank you to everyone who donated. It was an absolute privilege to join with you in supporting our SEALs and their families. If you haven't yet donated, there's still time! You can donate here or mail your check to:
