I am running the NYC Marathon this year with the Release Recovery Foundation team, to raise awareness and money for addiction and mental health treatment. All proceeds raised will go to their scholarship program, which will make mental health and substance abuse treatment available to underserved populations. The US in 2020 saw a record 93,000 overdose deaths. While that statistic is shocking, it is easy to forget that every one of those was a person, with a life and with dreams, and with people who loved them. A father, mother, brother, sister, and friend, lost forever. I am running in honor of my friend Seamus Tait - and all the others who have lost their lives to addiction.
I am running for all the people who are out there struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, so that they can have a place to go to get the help they need. Those that know me know this is a cause that is near and dear to my heart. I would not have the life I have today if not for the people that helped me along the way, and I decided that for my first ever marathon, I wanted to use this opportunity to help someone else in need.
Any donation you can make to this cause is greatly appreciated! Donations are fully tax deductible.
