A MESSAGE FROM Hannah's Marathon Mission
Welcome to my page!
I'm struggling with where to start. How about a back story, first?
Like most of you, I felt blow after blow of sadness and disappointment with all that 2020 had to offer. The one, in particular, that hit me pretty hard was the official cancellation of the 2020 Chicago Marathon -- the one and only marathon I ever wanted to run. I still remember that email hitting my inbox (and stomach) like it was yesterday. And right then, I knew I had to make a decision: throw away months of early morning training and fundraising and wait it out....or just run.
So, I successfully trained, fundraised, and ran the 26.2 virtual, masked, very warm miles on that October day in the first (and only) Virtual Chicago Marathon Experience. No crowds, no course, not timed, not official, but still a dang marathon. And, because I never really got to experience that marathon, here I go again.
I have chosen to once again support the Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA) because they align with my passion for helping others through movement and fitness. The primary goal of GLASA is to support the optimal development and well-being of youth, adults and injured military veterans who have physical or visual disabilities. This amazing organization provides inclusive recreational, fitness and competitive sports activities and offers opportunities for empowerment through education, leadership and training in collaboration with community-based organizations.
Seeing my fundraising make a difference and bring movement, sports, and joy to individuals locally through this incredible organization fuels my soul and powers my training runs.
Your donation means so much to me, and goes directly to those in need and gives endless possibilities. Please consider donating today. Thank you!
