A MESSAGE FROM Hillary and Elie Run Brooklyn
Please support my fundraising efforts for the 2023 Brooklyn Mother's Day Race.
I was lucky to have access to comprehensive, collaborative, and affirming care throughout my pregnancy. So when a sudden health emergency necessitated an early delivery, both my baby and I were safely led through birth with as many of our initial plans and desires supported as possible. Always with my autonomy and informed consent centered, always with my emotional health prioritized.
I am privileged to have had the support of outstanding midwifery, an exceptional doula, pelvic floor PT, mental health support, and much more. And still, surviving and thriving in pregnancy and postpartum takes a village beyond this.
Despite being the most advanced nation in the world, maternal mortality, especially for women of color, continues to trend upwards domestically. Mothers and birthing people deserve better, in the United States and beyond. That’s why Elie, Andy, and I are fundraising for Every Mother Counts, so all mothers have the kind of support we experienced. With so much gratitude to our extended universe, we've reached our initial fundraising goal of $1,123 (Elie's birthday!) so as a challenge, I've doubled it to $2,246 - let's see how high we can climb! Please join us as we work to build a world that is safe, and celebratory, for birthing people everywhere.
