I will be running the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon with my friends from the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center. 🏃♀️🩺🐾💜
With just one week until race day, I wanted to share my reasons for running this year.
Since June 2023, I have had the incredible opportunity to work at the world’s largest non-profit animal hospital where I see the life-changing effects that veterinary medicine can have on our patients. I am especially drawn to our animals who are undergoing cancer treatment, as I have worked a lot with our veterinarians in surgical oncology. Throughout my time here, I have witnessed many challenging surgeries and discouraging diagnoses, as well as the ups and downs of recovery. My heart breaks for the dogs and cats who are too sick to be healed, but, the stories that will stick with me forever are the ones of families who are forced to turn down treatment for financial reasons, especially when a cure is in sight. Because of this, and because we all deserve a fighting chance, I am running the marathon to raise money for The Buddy Fund, one of our hospital’s charity programs dedicated to providing free or subsidized care for pet owners.
All donations will go towards the costs of treating cancer in animals. By alleviating the financial burden of care, the AMC hopes to provide more pet owners with access to some of the finest veterinary care during these very difficult times.
I have done much work with non-profit rescue groups around the city and I know how crucial fundraising can be and the difference that the community can make for these sick animals. Please consider donating so we can continue to help families afford the care necessary to fight cancer and give their pets the best chance at a long, happy life. Thank you for all of your kindness and support!! 🩵🤞🏻
