A MESSAGE FROM Jamie
In honor of my niece, Carlie, I am taking on Team In Training’s Resilience Challenge to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Carlie has been battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) since January of this year. The Resilience Challenge is taking place during a very important month for Carlie: she will be receiving a bone marrow transplant in early June, and June is also her birthday month, she'll turn 14 on the 16th. My goal is to walk/run 100 miles between June 1st and June 30th, and raise at least $1000 for LLS and in honor of Carlie as she recuperates from the transplant.
Though AML is rare in children (only about 700 kids in the U.S. per year are diagnosed), the son of one of my very good friends battled this disease as well. I am also running in memory of Zachary, a very special and brave little boy.
Any amount pledged or donated would be greatly appreciated. If you prefer to pledge per mile I finish (i.e., $0.50), I will be providing updates on my mileage throughout the month, so you can track my progress and send the total at the end of the month.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is at the forefront of the fight against cancer and provides critical support to blood cancer patients across the country.
I invite you to be #TNTRESILIENT in the face of cancer by making a donation or by joining me in this challenge!
