A MESSAGE FROM Jared Schain's Fundraising Page for Team VERA
This fall, I'll be running the TCS NYC Marathon as part of Team Vera. The Vera Institute of Justice was founded in 1961 to advocate for alternatives to money bail in New York City. Vera is now a national organization with the mission of ending the overcriminalization and mass incarceration of people of color, immigrants, and people experiencing poverty. I decided to join Team Vera because I wanted to raise money for a cause that aligned with my current volunteer work with Braven, an organization focused on empowering promising, underrepresented young people (first-generation college students, students from low-income backgrounds, and students of color).
For the last 60 years, Vera has fought to end the injustices inflicted by the U.S. justice and immigration systems. They have developed just, antiracist solutions that today’s challenges call for. Since 1961, they have partnered with advocates, community organizers, and local governments across the country to create justice systems that ensure fairness, promote safety, and strengthen communities.
Im calling on friends, family, and others in my network and community to help me reach my fundraising goal and raise money for an amazing cause. Please consider donating or sharing with others who may be interested. All donations are appreciated - thank you for your support and I hope to see you in NYC on November 6th!
