A MESSAGE FROM JOSE'S FUNDRAISING PAGE - "I need YOUR help + support!"
Friends and Family,
I am so excited to announce that I will be running the New York City Marathon this year on November 3, 2024. I’m running in partnership with NYRR Team for Climate to help reduce the Carbon Footprint of the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon. I ask you to join me in helping me meet my $3,000 goal with a gift of $26.20, in honor of the 26.2 miles I will be running.
My running journey began right before the Covid-19 pandemic in November 2019 when I signed up for the Oakland Half Marathon. But things really took off during the Covid-19 pandemic -- at a time when many of us were looking for ways to take care of our bodies and minds. I went from ~10-minute miles then to now consistently holding sub 7 minute miles and completing my first official Half Marathon in under 1h30mm. I wouldn't have been able to get to this point without tremendous willpower, but also support from my community of friends and family.
Now, I would be remiss if I didn't include my goals for this race. The first is to have fun and enjoy this iconic course through the five boroughs of NYC! Second, I hope to beat my PB of 3h17m set in Chicago with at time under 3h15m. Third is to successfully complete this fundraising campaign.
