Sweat Test and training update
I knew I was a heavy sweater when I run in heat but I did not know how much sodium I was losing. The "sweat test" can help calculate that. I found a place in N. KC that does the test and now I know. I lose a lot of sodium as well. My fueling and hydration will be critical and now I have a game plan to dial that in. My weekly training is pushing me to 30 miles right now, however that will be quickly rising as my first back to back marathon effort is only 11 weeks away. KC on Sat October 17, followed by Des Moines on Sunday Oct 18th. Here we go!

Minor setback
As training picks up I added sitting into a resting squat for 3-5 minutes. It's more challenging than you think. Hips, knees and ankle joints are not used to holding this position for more than a few seconds. My left knee has flared up and become very tight and achy. Thankfully my PT got me in right away and we are addressing it. Short 4 miler today went well with no pain. Huge relief. No Bad Days!

Reality sets in!
It is one thing to apply to this epic event and another to learn I have been selected. In the month since being accepted my head has been spinning a bit. So many questions: what clothing to wear in freezing conditions on day one in Antarctica, to a possible 100 degree change on day 2 in Africa? How does one train for this event and stay healthy? How do I take in the right amount of nutrition, hydration, recovery, and sleep all at 35,000 feet? And then rinse and repeat for seven straight days! Way more questions than answers at this point, however, I am excited to figure it all out.
