A MESSAGE FROM Jen's Best Run Year Ever
Becoming a mom was the scariest moment of my life. Not just in the typical terrifying sense that becoming a mom is scary, but after being induced at 41-weeks due to my baby's size, I had a very traumatic birth. She was born blue, not breathing, with the umbilical cord wrapped twice. The on-call pediatric emergency doctor rushed in along with a number of extra nurses. While they took care of my baby, my heart rate was not leveling out.
I am so grateful it was only a few moments of fear and then Charlotte cried, my heart rate evened out, and everything was as we had hoped.
For so many women, that isn't the case. So I'm running for Every Mother Counts. Because there is no reason why giving birth in the U.S. should be as scary as it is.
