A MESSAGE FROM Jureks on the Run takes on NYC Marathon
Hi Friends!!
If you are here reading this, shout out to whomever carried you around for nine months and then birthed you because it’s no joke! If you know me or read my book, you know that getting pregnant for the first time nearly killed me.
In March 2014, I suffered an ectopic pregnancy rupture. The day prior, I had gone on a solo 12 mile trail run in a remote desert canyon outside of Vegas. Hours before the rupture, we were on an airplane. If my fallopian tube would have ruptured on that run, I would be dead. If this happened on the plane, who knows. Lucky for me, I happened to be home with Scott, less than two miles away from a hospital and ER. I passed out from internal bleeding and by the time I had surgery, I had lost a liter of blood.
Many women have to walk a marathon distance just to get basic maternal care. The distance that I choose to run for fun could be a matter of life or death for someone else. Every Mother Counts provides funds, resources, transportation, electricity, and support for pregnant women around the world. I am so dedicated to this organization and the work they do to keep women safe and healthy during pregnancy and beyond.
Thank you for caring! Seriously, it means the world to me.
Xo,
Jenny Jurek
