A MESSAGE FROM Joey
Hello there! I am running the 2021 Chicago Marathon, in October, to raise money for GLASA - Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association. I raised money for the same worthy cause before the 2020 marathon, and obviously the world went south. Charities' needs for funding did not stop, so I am glad of the opportunity to raise money for the same organisation again, this year.
Every day, and for over 20 years, GLASA has been making a difference in the lives of children and adults with physical and visual disabilities - through the provision of inclusive recreational, fitness and competitive sports activities.
GLASA's motto is "Let NO ONE Sit on the SIDELINES".
Sport has always been a big part of my own life - from playing two on two football / cricket / hockey / rugby / fighting in the garden with my brothers; to giving back to the game through the coaching I do now, sport has always driven my happiness, health and friendships. The thought that I could help spread its positive effects into the lives of others for whom athletic inclusion is not always so readily available, is a powerful motivation.
This Chicago run forms part of a larger challenge I'm in - that of completing a race in each of the 50 US states. Illinois will be number 48.
Thank you for any donation you are able to make to GLASA - every cent/pence is important.
