A MESSAGE FROM Fundraising for Soccer Without Borders - Juan NYC Marathon 2024
Hi everyone - stoked to announce that I'll be running the 2024 New York City Marathon and I'll be representing Team Soccer Without Borders! This will be my first time running NYC and I can't think of a better partner to run with than SWB.
What is Soccer without Borders?
What is Soccer without Borders?
Soccer Without Borders is a non-profit organization that uses soccer as a vehicle for positive change in the lives of newcomer refugee, immigrant and asylee youth.
While free after-school soccer instruction is the hook that SWB uses to engage youth, the organization does a lot more. Youth participants actively participate in off-field educational support, team-building exercises, civic engagement activities, and cultural exchange opportunities.
Why SWB?
Personally, I was drawn to SWB because I have a strong connection to the sport of soccer. I grew up playing it for most of my childhood, and understand the joy and community that it brought me. As a first generation immigrant child, I'd like to pass on that feeling of community and acceptance the youth of today. It's recognized as the world's most popular sport for a reason, as no matter what language, or culture you're from, you're able to bond together over the game.
