A MESSAGE FROM Julia's 2022 NYC Marathon Fundraising
I wrote the following statement in May 2020, as I began raising money for Think Pink Rocks alongside my NYC Marathon bib. Two years later, after a canceled race, a 2021 registration link sent to junk mail, and one month to go, I am back to finish the goal that I started. In 2020, I raised $2,300 to fund breast cancer research. I am hoping we can do even more good this time around :)

I was encouraged to run by my mom, a long-time marathon runner. After watching her race year after year, I eventually worked up the courage to take on 26.2 miles myself. I registered as a charity runner, and chose an organization that puts women and health at the forefront.
I am excited to announce that I am running the 2020 (now 2022!) TCS NYC Marathon to support Think Pink Rocks, an incredible non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness about early detection of and genetic testing for breast cancer, and to provide funding for cutting edge breast cancer research.
Did you know:
β’ A woman's risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer is greatly increased if she carries the BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation (Breast Cancer gene mutation).
β’ Men with these mutations also have an increased risk of breast and prostate cancer.

As a partner of the 2022 TCS NYC Marathon, all funds raised for Think Pink Rocks will benefit breast cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and the Breast Oncology Center at the University of Michigan's Rogel Cancer Center.
