A MESSAGE FROM Karma
I began running the Aramco Half in 2014 as a means to increase Brain Cancer awareness & raise funds for research. My late husband, Martin Romero Sanchez, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme in 2012 at the age of 28 & we soon realized that funds for promising research were our only way to a cure. For almost eight years, Martin bravely fought every day - living his life to the fullest & raising awareness whenever possible. Sadly, Martin passed in 2020, and we're still lacking resources to find a cure.
I originally participated with the Memorial Hermann Foundation (a Run for a Reason official charity for many years), as Memorial Hermann was part of our medical team. While the Foundation is no longer an official charity, I was introduced to Addi's Faith Foundation, which is dedicated to ending childhood cancer. AFF funds childhood cancer research as well as provide financial assistance to families struggling to care for a child with cancer.
As an adult or a child, brain cancer is a grim and heartbreaking diagnosis. Martin's legacy reminds us to stay in the fight & not give up until a cure is found. Please support my fundraising efforts for the 2022 Houston Marathon Race Weekend. No donation is too small & all donations bring us that much closer to making brain cancer history.
