Support Me By Supporting Women's Reproductive Rights.

For my first, I could have picked any of the marathons. But I chose a challenge, a mecca; I chose the 2020 TCS New York City Marathon (now the 2021 Marathon.) In my years living in NYC, I supported friends and strangers alike as they ran through the streets of New York. I thought they were astounding; I thought they were crazy; I NEVER thought that someday I'd be one of them. So, when I failed to get into the race via the lotto, I knew I'd raise money and run with a charity.

I could have chosen many charities to raise money for. No one has issues with Charities, like The American Cancer Society, Autism Speaks, or UNICEF. So why didn't I choose one of those? Again, I wanted a challenge. I prefer to support Planned Parenthood because of all of the people who don't support them. In NYC, many friends and I relied on Planned Parenthood to provide us affordable access to birth control and maintain our reproductive health. It wasn't about access to abortion (although I DO support a woman's right to make decisions for her body). It was about access to affordable and consistent female-oriented medical care.
