A MESSAGE FROM Let's Run 21 Miles for Every Mother Counts!
Hi Friends,
I will be running the 21 Mile race at this year's Big Sur Marathon as part of Team Every Mother Counts.
For the last decade, EMC's work in the U.S. has focused on partnering with Black and Indigenous community-based organizations that are combating racism to achieve birth justice. These incredible groups have long been leaders in the fight to eliminate racial disparities in maternal health, and to ensure every mother experiences quality, respectful and culturally-appropriate maternity care.
Every Mother Counts was born from the recognition that not all birthing people enjoy the same access and privilege when it comes to maternity care. In some parts of the world, women have to travel many miles to reach a provider or clinic while pregnant or in labor, often by foot. We run as a way to raise awareness of maternal health disparities.
To date, Team EMC has run hundreds of thousands of miles, and raised over $5M in support of Every Mother Counts’ mission.
