A MESSAGE FROM Kavita's Fundraising Page
As most of you guys know, I've never been a runner, but I am very excited to run for The H.E.A.R.T. Program! My favorite charity convinced me to get out of my comfort zone and run. Sadly, no horses are allowed to help me complete this feat. On the other hand, I'd love to share my thoughts with my family, friends, and co-workers so we can continue The Program's amazing work:
The H.E.A.R.T. Program provides job training and employment opportunities for low-income adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities ("IDD"). I've worked with the trainees first hand and am just in awe of how much empowerment they get from being able to bring home a paycheck to their families. Covid has taken many of the income bringing opportunities from the trainees - such as working at Rockets games, the Rodeo, stocking vending machines, etc. They are not only losing their income, but also what gives them confidence and independence and what helps them put food on their family's table.
Please take a moment and consider giving to one of these hardworking individuals by supporting my fundraising efforts for the 2021 Houston Marathon Race Weekend. Please know that no matter what happens to the Marathon (if it needs to be cancelled because of Covid), 100% of the donations will get to The H.E.A.R.T. Program. No donation is too small.
