Family & Friends,
I’d like to honor my family, the men and women of the New York Police & Fire, and their families, with my first marathon, in my adopted home. I'm also proud to support Answer the Call - the New York Police & Fire Widow's & Children's Benefit Fund.
Growing up I spent a lot of time around both the Boston Fire & Police Departments given my family's long history of service. My Dad, Uncle, several cousins and other extended family members are proud firefighters and cops, a few having also served in the military (see below for photos!). My brother and I learned early on the sacrifices made by the City's bravest and finest, while also sharing fond memories of Christmas at the firehouse and rides on the old ladder truck in parades. I also remember the hard times, including when my Dad traveled to NYC for the rescue & recovery effort after 9/11. My
family has not been immune to loss – my Uncle Billy unfortunately passed away from
cancer, likely a side effect from his time on the job. I’ll never forget the
outpouring of support our family received from fire & police community
following his passing, many of whom my uncle and father had met from their
travels as members of the Boston Gaelic Fire Brigade Pipe & Drum Band or through the shared brotherhood of service.
I look forward to giving back to the many heroes of the New York Police & Fire Departments and their families.
Thank you for Answering the Call.
